The Declaration is the only newspaper located in Grayson County. As such, the newspaper's team of experienced and dedicated workers makes every effort to ensure the top-notch quality of each edition.
Serving the community since 1980, The Declaration continues to look for new and innovative ways to make sure readers are well-informed about area events and activities. The Declaration recently launched its new website, www.independencedeclaration.com.
The site includes stories and photos for news, features and sports. Also featured are obituaries, a calendar, slideshow and contact information for subscriptions and The Declaration’s Newspapers in Education program
Readers can even submit their own comments and calendar listings.
The website is under construction, which means staff continue to work with the new system. Look at the website frequently for breaking news updates.
For complete local coverage continue to turn to The Declaration’s print edition. One year local subscriptions, for new subscribers only, are $31.95.
Published weekly from offices at Guynn Shopping Center Mini Mall in Independence, The Declaration also is the only newspaper serving two states, Virginia and neighboring Alleghany County, N.C.

The Declaration publishes engagement and wedding announcements, anniversaries church and school news, community happenings and children’s birthdays for ages 12 and under free of charge.
Staff welcome your opinions and submissions, including photos. The Declaration publishes color on all pages.
Birth announcements, including photos, are $15. Cards of thanks are published for $12.50.
