SPARTA, N.C. – Alleghany’s unemployment rate climbed in November according to figures released by the N.C. Commerce Department.
Alleghany had a rate of 10.2 percent at the end of October and 10.9 percent in November.
Ashe County reported a decrease from 10.3 percent in October to 10 percent in November.
In Surry County, the rate dropped from 10.2 percent in October to 9.7 percent in November.
Twelve of the 14 counties in the Triad and Northwest North Carolina reported a decline in their jobless rate during November.
