New River Pioneer Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated Veterans Day by honoring one of its own, Dorothy Ward of Independence, at a surprise luncheon.
Ward is the chapter’s only veteran who served during World War II.
After the chapter completed the DAR ritual at the meeting, attendees sang the Marine Corps Hymn as a gesture of respect to honor Ward.
Many members and friends attended to honor and surprise Ward.
