ELK CREEK – There were plenty of fast cars competing in the Renegade Pro Mod Quick 8 class Aug. 13 at Elk Creek Dragway when rain washed out the finals.
In the qualifying round, Jay Cox of Smithfield, N.C., driving a 1953 Studebaker and Michael Heath of Yadkinville, N.C., in a 1990 Olds Cutlass, turned the same speed – 156.37 mph.
Jim Lyons of Max Meadows won the Super Pro-Pro-Line Performance class in a 1989 Pontiac Trans-Am with a speed of 111.66 mph.
