A man serving multiple life sentences for a triple murder in Grayson County and a murder in Ashe County, N.C., has confessed to killing others.
Freddie Hammer of Crumpler, N.C., is serving eight life sentences without chance of parole at Wallen’s Ridge State Prison in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Ashe County Sheriff James Williams told The Declaration last Friday that Hammer had confessed to killing Tim Shatley in 2005 and Julie Lovett in 2001.
“He can’t produce evidence to prove that he killed either person,” Williams said.
