Grayson LandCare held its “LandCare Rocks the River” event July 30, which was marked by bright sunny skies, cool breezes, lively music, good food and a festive, happy five hours for all in attendance.
“We basically wanted to create awareness about Grayson LandCare as an organization, and celebrate the New River,” said LandCare Communications Chair Faith Hinkle, who also serves as manager for the Fries Farmers Market, which took place at the same time.
Farmers market vendors, food vendors and local merchants and groups all set up from 1-6 p.m. Expecting maybe 150 attendees, Hinkle said LandCare was thrilled to discover the final tally came in at about 650; already, there are plans for another one.
“I think the event went over well,” said Hinkle. “It was a big hit, the vibe was wonderful and everyone I talked to is looking forward to next year!”
