New Carico Memorial Bridge opens to traffic: Who drove over the bridge first?

There were no speeches or any kind of ceremony when the new Carico Memorial Bridge opened last Friday but everyone there was happy with the completion of the new bridge and to finally see vehicles crossing the New River again.
With the lights flashing on his Ford Bronco, Carl Chapman, who lives on River View Lane near the new bridge, decked out in his own hard hat, was the first to cross the new bridge.
“It’s great to see the new bridge finally completed,” Chapman said.
