Police make arrests in two unrelated drug cases

GALAX – The Galax Police Department has arrested two men and charged them in separate drug incidents.
Police Chief Rick Clark said in a news release that Richard Dusty Hash, 31, of Independence, was arrested on Jan. 8 and charged with possession of methamphetamine. Hash was arrested by Sgt. Mark Burnett while assisting Senior Police Officer John Reavis with a traffic stop.
On Jan. 9, Aaron K. Cutchens, 28, of Fries was charged with possession of a schedule II substance (hydrocodone) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cutchens was arrested by Police Officer Terry Woods who had responded to a suspicious person call on Hanes Road. During the course of the field interview Woods discovered the suspected narcotics.
Hash and Cutchens are being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin pending their appearance in the Galax General District Court.
