Portion of Parkway closed for construction

SPARTA, N.C. -- The Blue Ridge Parkway was closed to all traffic from Milepost 232.5 at Stone Mountain Overlook to Milepost 244.7 at Basin Cove Parking Overlook in Alleghany County on April 20 and will remain closed until mid-summer of 2011.  
Detour traffic signage will direct Parkway visitors around the closure area via N.C. Route 18 and U.S. 21 through Laurel Springs and Sparta.
