A 37-year-old Independence woman has been charged with criminal solicitation to commit murder, following an investigation by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department.
Grayson County Sheriff’s investigators arrested Candi Freeman Carico 37, of 233 Sandalwood Lane in Independence, on Friday and charged her with criminal solicitation to commit murder.
The sheriff’s office received information on May 20 from an anonymous source about an alleged plot to kill Carico’s estranged husband, Grayson County Sheriff Richard Vaughan stated in a press release.
According to a Criminal Complaint filed in Grayson County General District Court, Carico asked an unidentified acquaintance while talking on the telephone to kill her husband Tim Carico. The complaint alleges that the incident occurred between March 15 and April 15.
The findings of the investigation were presented to a magistrate in a probable cause hearing and a warrant was issued, the sheriff said.
Carico is charged with criminal solicitation to commit murder, and is being held in New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.
Vaughan told The Declaration that a bond hearing will be held this week in Grayson County General District Court. A preliminary hearing likely will be held within the next six weeks, Vaughan said.
