Wilkes edges Trojans, 55-49

SPARTA, N.C. – Alleghany jumped out to a 13-point first period lead against East Wilkes last Friday night but cooled off in the second half, losing a 55-49 Mountain-Valley 2-A/1-A Conference heartbreaker.
Alleghany led 24-11 after the first period and 33-29 at halftime but East Wilkes played a solid second half to outscore the Trojans 29-16 to put the game away.
Jimmy Pine led the Trojans with 11 points and Jeremy Mabe added 10.
