Relaxing evenings with classic car shows, beach music, shag instructors, games of corn hole and good food are slated to be held throughout this summer in Independence.
The first is Sunday, June 16 at 2 p.m. and is hosted by Pizza Plus and the Town of Independence. All events will be held at the McKnight Lot across from the Historic 1908 Courthouse.

The Independence Farmers Market and Grayson LandCare have postponed Dairy Day at the Independence Farmers Market from tomorrow (June 7) to Friday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is the second in a series of special events to be held throughout the summer of 2013.
Hannah Martin, Independence Farmers Market vendor and owner of Heartmoss Farm, will be making three types of cheese during the market. She will begin at 9 a.m. with a soft cultured cheese with herbs.
The Grayson County, Fries and Whitetop Public Libraries are pleased to announce this year’s summer reading programs.
The children’s theme is “Dig Into Reading!” The teen and adult theme is “Groundbreaking Reads.” The program lasts eight weeks, with registration beginning on June 3.
