A group effort by a member of the Fries community and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office led a lost fawn safely back to its mother over the Fourth of July weekend. According to a post on social media, Sheriff Richard Vaughan received a call over the past weekend about a baby fawn being attacked by dogs. The post confirmed that Michael Funk of Arrowhead Drive in Fries saved the baby deer from the dogs. Sheriff Vaughan was filling in for the animal control deputy, who was out of town for the weekend, according to the post.
