Firefighters say no one was occupying involved buildings

INDEPENDENCE — The Independence Fire Department responded to a fire call involving two campers and a small cabin on 1000 Maple Rd. in Independence on Monday, Oct. 22 at approximately 3:11 p.m.
The initial call stated that a camper trailer was on fire, and had exploded at the location.
The fire department extinguished the blaze and cleared the scene in about an hour. No one was occupying the buildings at the time of the fire, Chief Gary Hash confirmed to the paper in an interview.
