Grayson supervisors double funding for coyote killing program

-A A +A

Surge in carcasses turned in exhausts original $5,000 appropriation

By Don Richeson

INDEPENDENCE -- The Grayson County Board of Supervisors decided to double the size of the county’s coyote killing program and will add an additional $5,000 to the $5,000 it earlier earmarked for it. The decision came through a 3-2 vote at the supervisors Jan. 8 regular monthly meeting. It was made after County Administrator Jonathan Sweet told supervisors that an unexpected jump in the number of dead coyotes turned in had depleted all of the county money set aside in July 2014 for the bounty program, which had been planned to continue at least into May of this year.
