IVFD plans fundraisers for new vehicle

The new addition to the fire department’s fleet will allow volunteers to respond to emergencies with two vehicles instead of three

INDEPENDENCE — The Independence Volunteer Fire Department recently welcomed a new addition to their fleet of vehicles, which will allow them to haul equipment to assist with fires and car wrecks.
The new vehicle is a 2003 Spartan Custom Heavy Rescue. The department purchased it from Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus in Union Grove, Al. The vehicle will replace a 1999 F-850, which will be sold to another department.
