Nester sentenced to 25 years in ‘Rolling Thunder’ case

ABINGDON — A North Carolina man convicted as a result of the Operation Rolling Thunder investigation has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.
Prosecutors said Grandy Nester, 33, of Pilot Mountain, N.C., was part of a methamphetamine distribution network. He pleaded guilty in 2017 possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and conspiracy to distribute 500 grams of methamphetamine.
At a hearing June 14 in U.S. District Court in Abingdon, Nester was sentenced to 24 years and six months in federal prison.
