  • Vendors wanted for Fall Festival

    The Grayson Highlands Fall Festival Committee is seeking craft vendors for the 2010 festival.  
    All crafts must be mountain or pioneer in style. No food vendors please. All concessions are provided by the Rugby Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department.
    The festival is held at Grayson Highlands State Park in Mouth of Wilson. This year’s event is on Saturday, Sept. 25 and Sunday, Sept. 26. The festival is from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days. Spaces are $40 for a 12’x12’ space or $80 for a 12’x24’ space.

  • Courthouse Opry returns to Independence

    The Courthouse Opry will be returning to Independence for an evening of old-time, bluegrass, country, and blues music on Friday night, July 30. 
    Following the success of the first Courthouse Opry in February 2010, local Grayson County band, Hard Cider, will be hosting the show once more.  In addition to Hard Cider, the July Opry lineup features The Whitetop Mountain Band and Cat & Clint, a duo from Victoria, Australia.  The emcee for the Opry will be Dale Morris.

  • Lighthouse photographer to visit the mountains

  • Artisans to showcase work during tour weekend

    Grayson County Artisans, a non-profit group organized to showcase the work of professional artists and craftsmen in the area, will host its 7th annual Studio Tour on Saturday and Sunday, July 24 and 25.
    The Tour not only highlights the work of several production artisans, but also makes their workshops open to visitors. The artisans will be on-site to explain and/or demonstrate how their artistic works are accomplished, as well as to offer some of their finest work for sale.
