Things were quiet Feb. 27 at the 85,000-square-foot former Robertshaw Controls Company building at 607 W. Main St. (west U.S. 58) in Independence. That will change in coming months as Salem-based Oak Hall Cap and Gown begins to set up a manufacturing operation there that is expected to employ 100 workers.
Cap and gown maker bringing 100 jobs to Independence

INDEPENDENCE -- Oak Hall Cap and Gown, a manufacturer of academic, judicial and religious apparel, will invest $1.2 million to establish a textile manufacturing operation in Independence.

The company will renovate and up-fit an existing 85,000-square-foot facility — the old Robertshaw Controls Company building at 607 W. Main St . (west U.S. 58) — and create 100 new jobs.
